CCIFG On-Site Visit: Japan Motors/ Silver Star Assembly Plant

CCIFG organised an on-site visit to the Japan Motors & Silver Star Assembly Plant which was inaugurated this year...

On the 22nd of November, members of CCIFG visited and toured the Japan Motors and Silver Star Assembly Plant which produces the globally acclaimed SUV, the PEUGEOT 3008 and the all-new 1-ton PEUGEOT pickup, the LANDTREK.

With over twenty-five years of experience, Silver Star Auto has a strong heritage and presence in the Ghanaian automotive market with nationwide service outlets that meet the sales and after-sales needs of PEUGEOT and CITROËN clients. The Silver Star Auto Assembly plant is owned by Kalmoni Family and has the initial capacity to produce in SKD (Semi Knock Down) 4,500 cars annually.

In 1958 S. Kalmoni & Sons imported the first Japanese car onto the Ghanaian market. This car was called Datsun (now Nissan). There was no turning back after this and in 1962 S. Kalmoni & Sons gave birth to Japan Motors Trading Company which moved on to become a limited liability company in 1965.

Since then Japan Motors has become synonymous with the Nissan brand name. Throughout our history and under the leadership of second generation Kalmoni family members, Japan Motors has remained a private company with a commitment and dedication to its clients, its employees, and its community.
