On October 16, 2024, the Chamber organized a site visit to Golden Exotics Limited (GEL), Ghana's leading producer of bananas, with 20 years of operations and a plantation covering 2,200 hectares. The visit aimed to provide attendees with a deeper understanding of the agricultural processes behind GEL's success, as well as the company’s corporate social responsibility efforts within the community. The event was well-attended by representatives from 16 member companies, demonstrating strong interest in learning about GEL’s operations and gaining insights into the agribusiness sector.
Attendees were given a comprehensive tour of GEL’s banana plantations, where they were walked through the processes involved in banana farming, from planting to harvesting and packaging. The tour was led by GEL's experienced managers, Olivier and Geraud, who provided detailed explanations of the company’s production techniques, labor practices, and sustainability efforts. GEL’s commitment to supporting the local community through various CSR initiatives was highlighted as a key pillar of their operations, further underscoring their role as a responsible business leader.
