CCIFG Members Tour Guinness Ghana’s Achimota Brewery

On Friday, May 8th, 2026, some members of CCI France Ghana (CCIFG) embarked on an industrial site visit to the Achimota facility of Guinness Ghana Breweries Limited (GGBL). As one of the leaders in Ghana’s manufacturing sector, GGBL stands as a beacon of excellence, blending decades of brewing heritage with safety and innovation.

Guinness Ghana Breweries Limited (GGBL) believes that quality and safety are the foundations of their passion. Their objective is to serve as a elite partner, proving their competence by delivering premium beverages while maintaining an uncompromising "Safety First" culture. By implementing a rigorous integrated management system, their facility ensures that every bottle meets the highest international standards, from the brewhouse to the final consumer.

This commitment to excellence was recently validated on a national stage. Just weeks before our visit, Guinness Ghana swept eight major accolades at the 10th Ghana Beverage Awards (GBA) 2026. The company was honoured with the prestigious Manufacturing Company of the Year and a special Legacy Award, recognizing a decade of consistent impact on industry standards. Their flagship, Malta Guinness, also claimed the night's highest individual honour: Product of the Year.

The visit began with an introduction into GGBL’s "Safety First" philosophy. With the facility operating a 24/7 three-shift system, members were equipped with high-visibility reflectors and briefed on the strict 50 km/h site speed limit. To enter the production site of the facility, the group donned mandatory PPE’s; goggles to protect against glass-line pressure and earplugs to navigate the 45-decibel hum of the machinery.

Members learned how to identify authentic products like Johnnie Walker by checking aluminium seals and "Proof Tags", a critical defense against counterfeiting that protects both the brand's reputation and the consumer’s health.

Furthermore, the visit highlighted GGBL's deep roots in the Ghanaian soil. An impressive 70% of raw materials are sourced locally, supported by investments in high-yield seeds and agricultural tools for local farmers. The group also learned about the company's plastic buy-back initiative, which actively removes plastic waste from the market to promote a cleaner environment.

The tour was highly interactive, with CCIFG members engaging the GGBL technical and security teams in a lively Q&A session. The afternoon concluded on a high note. Following the tour of the production site, Guinness Ghana graciously hosted a reception for the CCIFG delegation. It was a wonderful opportunity for members to network, share their impressions of the tour, and enjoy the very products they had just seen being bottled.

Members thoroughly enjoyed the hospitality and the educational experience before dispersing, inspired by the high standards of industrial leadership displayed by the Guinness Ghana Breweries Limited team.
