Mövenpick Ambassador Hotel Accra Calls For Kilo Of Kindness In Aid Of Chance For Children
A Kilo of Kindness was the resounding theme at the Mövenpick Ambassador Hotel Accra last Friday during the official launch of the charity campaign which will run from the 1-15 September, 2018 in support of Chance for Children, a non-governmental organisation caring for street children in Accra.
The global campaign by Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts as part of the hospitality company’s corporate social responsibility programme, SHINE, calls on guests to donate at least one kilo of non-perishable food, clothing and educational supplies in aid of disadvantaged communities across the world. For the second year running, the Mövenpick Ambassador Hotel Accra has reached out to support Chance for Children who aim to empower street children to take control of their lives through the experience of love, safety and receiving education and professional training.
In a speech delivered by Daniela Rüdisüli Sodjah, founder of Chance for Children, she indicated that the headcount of children living on the street by some NGOs estimated about 90,000 street connected children in the Greater Accra region. That notwithstanding, she applauded the efforts of the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection to help mitigate this problem through their initiative dubbed ‘Get off the street for a better life’ and advocated a holistic approach with the collaboration of all stakeholders.
“Since 2015, the Mövenpick Ambassador Hotel Accra has been supporting us in diverse ways”, she said. “In the name of all the children on the street and the entire staff of Chance for Children, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the hotel for every support and for a continuous collaboration in the future”.
The launch was well attended by dignitaries and stakeholders of the tourism and hospitality industry in Ghana. Ms. Noemi Maria Delgado, Director of Sales and Marketing of the Mövenpick Ambassador Hotel Accra also urged the general public to support the organisation by donating kilos at the designated area in the hotel’s lobby.
