Accra, Ghana – DTT Energy Ghana Limited, a leading energy solutions provider and proud member of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry France Ghana (CCIFG), is delighted to announce that its consortium, led by Atelier (Architect) Ltd and supported by renowned consultants, has been awarded first place in the design competition for the University of Ghana's 75th Anniversary Celebration Project, The Student Experience Centre (SEC).
DTT Energy's cutting-edge expertise in sustainable energy and green building design proved instrumental in securing this significant achievement, emerging as the top choice among 14 competing entries. The Student Experience Centre (SEC) is envisioned as a state-of-the-art Net Zero Community, incorporating advanced sustainability features and innovative design strategies to set a new standard for educational infrastructure in Ghana.
Sustainability Highlights of the SEC Project
The Student Experience Centre integrates the latest in eco-friendly design, focusing on energy efficiency, resource conservation, and environmental impact. Key features include:
- Renewable Energy Generation: A 1,000 kWp photovoltaic (PV) system equipped with battery storage to optimize energy use and manage excess production during the day.
- Energy Efficiency: State-of-the-art LED lighting, Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) technology, and Energy Recovery Ventilation (ERV) systems for optimized energy consumption.
- Water Conservation: The project incorporates rainwater harvesting, greywater recycling systems, and low-flow fixtures to significantly reduce water usage.
- Passive Design Strategies: High-performance glazing, solar shading, and natural ventilation to minimize energy consumption.
- Sustainable Materials: A careful selection of materials prioritizing high recycled content, low embodied energy, and certified Environmental Product Declarations.
- Net Zero Certification Potential: Designed in alignment with international sustainability standards, the SEC qualifies for EDGE Excellent and Net-Zero Certification, ensuring it meets the highest benchmarks for environmental sustainability.
