CCIFG together with its partners organised the French Digital June Forum

The Chamber of Commerce and Industry France Ghana (CCIFG) together with other French institutions of the France & Ghana network, organised the French Digital June Forum to promote the technological potential of Ghana and foster relations between Ghanaian and French digital actors.

The participating institutions were the Embassy of France to Ghana, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry France Ghana, Alliance Francaise of Accra and Institut Francais of Accra

Under the high patronage of the Ambassador France to Ghana, H.E. Francois Pujolas, the digital forum was organised with the objective of promoting the technological potential of Ghana and fostering relations between Ghanaian and French digital actors. The event provided an outlook of the growing Ghanaian digital economy, with emphasis made on key digital platforms in the Ghanaian industry.

The forum began on the 1st of June with the Hackaton. This competition sought to change and modernize the learning of French in Ghana and brought together experts in IT and French teaching in order to find adequate solutions to improve and modernize the learning of French in Ghana, at a time when it is most needed.

On the occasion of the official opening ceremony on the 6th of June at the Best Western Premier Hotel, the Ambassador of France to Ghana, HE Francois Pujolas, recalled the need of digital solutions in Ghana, and the solutions provided by French companies, striving for Ghana’s technological progression through bilateral Ghanaian-French partnerships. He reminded as an important step forward, the MoU signed last month between the Melt Water School of Technology in Accra and Paris&Co, the economic development and innovation agency of Paris, to facilitate the circulation of start-ups between Accra and Paris.

The President of the CCIFG, Mr Patrick Prado, underlined the fact the “Ghanaian population is principally young and as such the demand for digitised solutions to facilitate daily life activities are increasing” before recalling that “adapting to a digital economy is the grand challenge of our time”.

The first session which comprised of roundtable discussions and presentations on digital avenues used by companies to connect buyers to sellers as well as provide access to information was facilitated by KPMG. These discussions covered topics from mobile money, e-commerce and e-learning by key digital stakeholders implanted in Ghana, to share their expertise to participants. Speakers from the first session were KPMG, Tonaton, Société Générale, JUMP-Busy Internet and Chalkboard.


The second session of the digital forum was more interactive with workshops gathering entrepreneurs and talented people striving for the digital progression in Ghana. Through three dedicated workshops, being entrepreneurship skills, women in technology and financing challenges, speakers shared their experiences and gave practical advice to an audience mostly made of incubators, start-ups and young graduates.

The French Digital June Forum, being organised by the Embassy of France in Ghana, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry France Ghana Alliance Française d’Accra and L’Institut Français, was held in the frame work of the activities lined up in celebration of the “France in Ghana 1957-2017: moving forward together” which marks 60 years of bilateral relations between the two Republics.
