Allianz Insurance supports 2018 Millennium Marathon
The Big Millennium Marathon has been insured for GH₵100,000 by Allianz Insurance Ghana Limited, a subsidiary of the Allianz Group, meant to cover all legal liabilities for the main event to be staged on Saturday, September 22, at the Independence Square.
The CEO of Allianz Insurance Ghana, Mr Darlington Munhuwani, announced the insurance package on Thursday, July 12 in Accra and noted that his company partnered the the organisers take care of the risks associated with the the event and also to ensure that participants who will suffer any loss during the event are duly compensated.
“This payment or policy covers losses incurred by our clients due to bodily injury or property damage to third parties as a result of our clients’ operations and we hope to keep this relationship for a very long time,” said Munhuwani at a ceremony to unveil Alliance Insurance Ghana as the official insurance company for the September 22 event.
For his part, CEO of the Millennium Marathon Sporting Limited, Mr Ashim Morton, encouraged professional athletes and marathoners to register early enough for the Millennium Marathon to offer them opportunity to enter into the bi-monthly draw to enable them win the Nissan Kicks car at stake, as well as the other items, including laptops, mobile phones, flat screen TV, microwave oven, fridges and rice cookers among others.
He said registration is open to keep fit clubs, fun clubs, schools and churches as well.
“Participation in this year’s Millennium Marathon is free, however to enter the raffle draw, participants need to send their registration number on the race bib or their phone numbers to *800*17# together with a fee of GH₵50 to any of the mobile networks in order to stand a chance of winning any of the items at stake,” Mr Morton explained.
Over 5,000 local and international athletes from Kenya, Ethiopia, Nigeria, Togo, Tanzania, China, Korea, Columbia, Mexico and Peru, are expected to participate in the one-day event which will include activities such as motor cycling show, art gallery, car wash and soccer display by celebrities.
