Societe Generale Ghana donates GHS 30,000 in support of National Farmers day
Societe Generale Ghana has donated GHS30,000.00 (Thirty Thousand Ghana Cedis) to the Ministry of Food & Agriculture in support of the National Farmers Day slated for 1st December 2017 under the theme PLANTING FOR FOOD AND JOBS. The donation was made as part of the Bank’s Corporate Social Responsibility (“CSR”).
At Societe Generale Ghana, Corporate Social Responsibility is interpreted as to Care; to Share; and to Respect. CSR is viewed from an internal and external perspective and is considered a day to day duty. Externally, supporting health, education, art, culture, sports, music, community and the environment. Internally from the perspective of the Bank’s core business of lending, care for employees, staff and working conditions.
Donations at Societe Generale Ghana are only a part of the Bank’s CSR duties and the Bank is happy to support the National Farmers Day which is commemorated on the first Friday of December in recognition of the unrelenting efforts of Ghana’s gallant and industrious famers and fishers at feeding the nation and contributing significantly towards Ghana’s economic well-being.
The Bank as a corporate entity has a civic duty to the community in which it operates to demonstrate Corporate Social Responsibility and good corporate citizenship. Societe Generale Ghana also supported other institutions such as the Ghana Securities Industries Association with GHS20,000.00; Ghana Chamber of Mines with GHS20,000.00; the Petroleum Commission with GHS15,000.00; the Youth Employment Agency in the Northern Region with GHS15,000; and the 70th Anniversary Cocoa Day celebration with GHS5,000.00.
