Ghana ranked 1st in West Africa on ITU's ICT Development Index
Keeping her 2016 title, Ghana remains the best West African country in terms of Information and Communication Technology’s development (ICT).
This was indicated by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) annual report dubbed “Measuring the Information Society Report 2017” which was published on November 15, 2017.
Considered as a major reference in terms of reliable and impartial data and analysis on ICT, the report assesses 176 countries on their digital infrastructures’ development through the global ICT Development Index (IDI). The world’s leading nation for 2017 is Iceland, while Africa’s first rank remains occupied by Mauritius.
In West Africa, Ghana still leads the sub-region despite losing 3 places form 2016. On the global scale, the country is ranked 116 with an index score of 4.05. Ghana is followed by Cote d’Ivoire with a score of 3.14 and a global rank of 131. Senegal is completing the sub-regional podium with a score of 2.66 (142nd global rank).
