The latest branch, which adds up to 34 other branches across the country, is located on the Bolgatanga Commercial Street at the old Melcom Building and it is expected to serve residents of the region and its surrounding areas.
Speaking at an inaugural ceremony held on Thursday, March 9 2023, in Bolgatanga, Managing Director of CalBank PLC, Philip Owiredu said the opening of the new branch is part of the bank’s expansion programme aimed at bringing banking services to the doorsteps of customers.
He called on residents of the region to embrace the bank as it is present to support the growth of their businesses and the general economy of the region.
According to him, the bank recognises the value of the region’s economy and therefore, is poised to help its economic activities blossom by providing local businesses with unique products and services irrespective of their sizes.
“CalBank has come to Bolga to support the development of the Bolga economy and that of the country as a whole. We are here to support the local economy to grow,” he emphasised.
On his part, Group Head of Consumer and Retail Banking of CalBank, Peter Fordjor assured customers of convenient and superior banking services.
Customer care and service being its priority, Mr. Fordjor said the bank has designed unique products that will enable customers conveniently transact businesses on its digital and other platforms.
“CalBank is bringing a service called agent banking and with agent banking, CalBank is able to provide certain tools to your pharmacy shop nearby, your supermarket nearby and even the mobile money vendor close to you.
We are able to give them certain tools that give them the opportunity to extend banking services to our customers which means that once that shop is opened, your bank is opened which means that CalBank is extending convenience beyond the working hours of this branch,” he stated.
These platforms, he indicated, are secure and robust and will provide its clients with safe banking services.
Recognising the role of women in the growth of the economy and the importance of women empowerment, CalBank also has specialized units that will offer capacity building and other special services to women entrepreneurs in the region to help grow their businesses and empower them financially, Mr. Fordjor indicated.
The Bolgatanga Branch Manager of CalBank, Ibrahim Fuseini, in his welcome address, said the bank, being an indigenous financial institution and having been in operations for more than 3 decades, has a great appreciation of the Ghanaian market dynamics and is in the best position to provide services that suit the needs of customers.
Gracing the event which had guests thrilled to beautiful cultural display by the Sakote Yong Dancers, the Municipal Chief Executive for Bolgatanga, Rex Asanga underscored the importance of the bank’s presence in the region to economic growth and the government’s employment generation efforts.
While expressing gratitude to the bank for extending its services to the region, he assured that “government will continue to create an enabling environment for banks to blossom and continue to render the needed services”.
