Mövenpick Ambassador Hotel Accra celebrates diversity week

Mövenpick Ambassador Hotel Accra team celebrate first Diversity Week as part of Accor’s global initiative

Mövenpick Ambassador Hotel Accra, as part of the world’s largest hotel group, Accor, joined sister properties in celebrating Diversity Week 2019. The entire team could be seen donning clothes representing their cultures and delighted guests as they shared tales of their traditions and local heritage.

As part of the two-day celebration, all team members engaged in activities which included showcasing their different backgrounds, enjoying culinary delights from nine countries representative of the team members’ nationalities (Ghana, Nigeria, South Africa, Ethiopia, United Kingdom, Germany, India, Nepal, Egypt) and sharing stories of various tribes or heritage.

These were aimed at educating the team about the importance of embracing Diversity in the organisation – an act rooted in the DNA and key to Accor’s success as part of its managerial ethics. These founding principles include welcoming others, giving recognition, drawing on their differences and valuing them.

Delighted about the turn of events for the occasion, Michael Rathgeb, General Manager, said, “We are extremely proud to be a part of this celebration. As 93% of our team members are Ghanaians, it has been refreshing to see the pride and joy with which they and all others have shared their local and national cultures with each other and with our guests. It is an initiative we will continue to support whilst encouraging our people to embrace and celebrate the diversity of all our guests and amongst team members.”
